Growing up as an African child, house chores were an absolute must. We absolutely had no choice, and refusing to do your chores definitely meant you will get whooped and not eat for that day.

Chores were more or less a non negotiable. My junior brother and I always rotated between washing plates and sweeping and mopping the house. By the time I became a teenager, I was already an expert in house chores especially mopping. 

Mopping the floor tiles were my favourite because of  how it immediately transformed the house to looking so clean immediately I mopped.

When I became an adult and became a wife, I continued doing my house chores as I was trained and made my house look so immaculately clean.

During the Christmas eve of 2022, while preparing the house to look immaculately clean for the Christmas celebration, I badly injured my finger while squeezing my mop with my hands.

One thing about mop sticks is that because of  it’s large bristles, it could pick very sharp objects without you noticing, and when you try to squeeze, you could get wounded badly.
